EDHS Orchestra and Sinfonia

Here is a list of performances that are happening in the month of March:

1. Pre-Festival Concert, tentatively 3/16 Monday @ 7:30 p.m.

We will have a short dress rehearsal from 5-6:30 p.m. and band booster will provide pizza and drinks. All parents are invited to come listen.

2. Festival for Orchestra 3/25

Students will be bused to VHS @ 2:45 p.m. Performance at 4pm. Parents are welcome to come. Parents will pick up students from Valencia after the concert.

3. Festival for Symphony(Sinfonia) 3/26

Meet at Valencia for warm-up at 4:30 p.m. Performance at 5:00 p.m. Parents are welcome to come.

We will be in touch once we confirm the 3/16/09 date for Pre-Festival. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Our concert at Disneyland is coming up next Friday, February 20th, at 10:30 a.m. Hopefully you all got the flyer that was sent home Monday with the details. We still have room for two more chaperones, so let us know if you would like to come. We are hoping to get everyone in one bus this year, so chaperones will need to carpool. We hope to see you there!

Also, mark your calendars for our end of the year concert and awards celebration. It will be Friday evening, June 5th at the Education Services Center on Casa Loma in Yorba Linda. This year it will be free of charge with a nice dessert being served.

Dear Parents and Students,

Our scrip program seems to be lagging somewhat. Orders have been steadily declining. We depend on this program to raise needed funds for our orchestra and sinfonia groups. For those orders placed this week, the net profit to us was not enough to cover the cost of shipping. Please remember that for each purchase made, you receive 100% of the amount of the gift card, but we receive a percentage of the gift card from the vendor. It’s a win/win situation for all.

Instead of placing an order this week, we will wait until next Tuesday. We hope to receive additional orders up to next Monday evening’s rehearsal; the mailbox will be emptied after rehearsal. Please consider using this service for your grocery shopping, gasoline fill ups, etc. Should you have any questions about the scrip program, please let us know. We truly appreciate your help.

Dear Parents and Friends of EDHS Orchestras,

WOW! What a roller coaster ride it has been- from stepping in as a brand new director, district high school orchestra concert, Santa Ana College collaboration, Winterfest, Holiday Breakfast to Yorba Linda Friends Church concert- the ride has been awesome and always been on the top!

With this email, I would like to thank you for your flexibility with our rehearsal schedule to fit our concert needs for the past few months. My sincere appreciation to parents who donated items and time for our breakfast. And of course, applause to our booster parents for a wonderful job on everything they do. I especially want to express my thanks to the generous gift you all have given me during one of the toughest economic period of our nation.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday and wish you a happy new year! I’m truly blessed to have you as a group of parents and it is my pleasure to have your wonderful young musicians as my students at EDHS. Happy New Year!!!

We are in the process of putting together our application for the Disneyland performance in February. If anyone has video footage from last year’s performance, we would appreciate a copy of it. This is a critical component of our application. Thanks so much!

Another scrip order will be placed on Wednesday, Oct. 1.? Please have your order and payment in by tomorrow afternoon - you may drop them off to the orchestra room mailbox.? There are many vendors to choose from, and our students benefit from your purchases.? Thank you for your support!

A couple of reminders for this week:

1.) There will be no zero period for Back to School Night on Wednesday relative to orchestra/sinfonia;

2.) If you have not done so already, fair share payments and tshirt orders may be dropped off in the mailbox in the orchestra room. We would ask that these be turned in by this Friday, the 26th.

Due to late start tomorrow, Mr. Hung will not be able to be on campus to hold zero period. He will, however, have audition results posted in the orchestra room after school and online in the website. The rehearsal schedule going forward will be as follows:

Monday

zero - everyone

5-6p.m. - orchestra

6-7p.m. - sinfonia

Tuesday/Thursday

zero - orchestra

Wednesday/Friday

zero - sinfonia
